The Florence Ahn Collection consists of a compact disc with recordings of performances by soprano Florence Ahn (1919– ); a handwritten note from Clara Ahn to Edward J. Shultz, September 6, 2001, conveying the CD; and a photocopy of an article about Ahn (Hideo Anzai, “Florence Ahn Takeuchi: Pioneer Asian American Singer,” Rafu Shimpo [Los Angeles], July 18, 2001.
The first three selections on the compact disc are recordings of Ahn’s appearances on Arthur Godfrey’s radio broadcasts. No dates are given for the broadcasts. In the first, from the “Lipton Talent Scouts” program, Ahn sings “Begin the Beguine.” In the second, from a subsequent broadcast, she sings “Falling in Love with Love.” In the third, she sings “If I Loved You.”
The remaining three selections include no introductions or other identification of the sources. The selections are “Lover,” “Musetta’s Waltz,” and “Love Look Away.”
